The basic definition put forward by Charles Dow was that a series of rising bottoms is an up market, a series of falling tops is a down market. But I like to see breakouts and recurring patterns. Any question you ask yourself about trading or forex should be binary; either yes or no answers. Is intraday trading profitable? Your hit rate has to be better because the market only moves so much.:
